Most marketers who have been around for a while know the importance of choosing a target market.

In Network Marketing your target market doesn’t necessarily have to be all that specific.  You don’t need to narrow it down to specific age, sex, hobbies etc – you can afford to be a little more general.

The main thing is to KNOW your target market. 

Speak their language. 

To do this you need to get inside your market and know everything there is to know about them.  Who their gurus are, where your target market are hanging out and what they are buying.

I listened to a great call today from my Mentor and it really cleared things up for me, so I thought I would share it with you also.

Sadly, when we join a Network Marketing opportunity we are taught to make a list of around 100 people that we can call to tell them about our new business.

This for me was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do in my business. 

In fact, I didn’t do it, because I just couldn’t bring myself to call all these people.  I haden’t spoken to some of them in YEARS.  How do I tell them about a business I just joined - that I wasn’t even sure if it was going to work yet?

I have been sitting here this evening thinking back to a few years ago when I first started my Network Marketing journey.

My first introduction to Network Marketing was being involved with an MLM company and I would spend each day calling leads on the phone and setting up appointments with them to show them my business opportunity, one on one over the phone.

There were times that I felt disheartened because it was hard work and I spent a lot of time and money to build my business.

I did this for 12 months before I found Mike Dillard’s Attraction Marketing.  Anyway, that’s another story. 

Over the past few years I have seen people come and go in this industry and it usually comes down to one thing.

I read a status today from my home business mentor Diane Hochman,  and it hit me like a home run… so I decided to share it with you.

It grabbed me because it’s something that I am currently experiencing as a leader in my business…

She wrote this:

Sometimes it is easy to look at someone who is further down the business road than you and judge them and the actions they take. I know…cause I used to do it.

But when you come into more responsibility and you are dealing with a lot more people you come to understand WHY they did what they did. It’s like when you become a parent you all of a sudden GRASP why your parents made some of the decisions they did.

You cannot possibly fathom the decision making process of a leader who deals with and serves MANY from the perspective of a business owner who deals with and serves a few.

Sadly, when most people join a Network Marketing opportunity they  expect to see results right away.

It’s because of the inexperienced marketers out there, who are trained by their inexperienced upline to blast their biz ops everywhere and make false claims of make money online very quickly.  Even promises of thousands of dollars in their first few months.

Little do they know, they are turning people off them not attracting people towards them. 

 If it was that easy to make money online, everyone would be rich.  Facebook is especially bad for biz op spamming and I have actually steered away from it lately because of this reason.

Recently I joined a program called ‘The 10K Challenge’ so I wanted to write an honest review of the system and share with you my progress as I work through it.
